How can I fix my washer's agitator?

My Whirlpool washer is not spinning the clothes during the spin cycle. The agitator is not moving freely anymore. The motor runs and sounds like the machine is spinning but it's not.
It's a Whirlpool, model #LSR7233DQO
Thanks

go torepair clinic .com type in the model number of the washer and they have do it your self videos and then watch that when you do also print out the directions. You could do this your self or pay a repair man 12 dollar a hour and he will take all day for a minute or so project. also look on the right hand side of the screen it will tell you if the project you are doing will be easy or not . And the parts to get . I been dealing with repair clinic for a while this website is a life saver. you can also get parts sent to your house for less then 10.00 for shipping and handling to and the parts are affordable.

wish you the best on fixing your washing machine.

The Clutch dogs are worn. A cheap repair. Like under $ 10.00. Pop off top cap. Pull out inner cap. Use a socket with a long extension to remove bolt holding on agitator. Pull out agitator and separate. Repalce clutch dogs and put back together.

I just fixed mine a few minutes ago. The inside of the agitator was stripped. I took an old hose and cut a strip off and put it in the inside of the agitator. I then had to get the agitator back on the shaft which was a b-i-t-c-h. I pushed it down a few inches then actually stood on it and got it about 85% down but the bolt would not catch the threads. I thought about a longer bolt but there was too much room between the bottom of the washer and the bottom of the agitator. I would assume clothes would get stuck under there. So, I took a dumbbell bar and pounded it into the top of the agitator with a hammer until it got close enough for the bolt to catch the threads in the shaft. I then ratcheted it into position. Sure, I knocked a few corners off the teeth of the agitator base in the process, but I'm washing a load right now and it's working like a champ!

Just make sure the piece of rubber you put in there is large enough for the requisite pressure to hold it in place.

My Whirlpool agitator had stripped splines and a corroded transmission shaft, causing the agitator to slip and spin freely. This belt-drive washer has been a real workhorse for many years, and I don't like the newer models with those agitator dogs or no agitator at all. I wire brushed the transmission shaft and cleaned it with gunscrubber spray and applied a two-component epoxy to the transmission shaft and re-set the agitator onto the transmission shaft, leaving it set for 48 hours. The agitator no longer slips after about three months of washing several loads of horse blankets.

I am having the same exact problem with my washing machine of the same model. Have you figured out how to fix the problem?

Thanks
