It depends what the machine is and how old
During the 80's every machine except john deere that had key ignition used the SAME key, they are still in use now and cost about 80p.
John Deere had a more secure looking key, but all keys were the same!!
More recently keys have become a bit more security minded with a few variations.
However if you aproach your local dealer with the model, serial and year code for your machine they should be able to order one for you.
