how to fix grandfather clock pendulum that won't swing?

ridgeway grandfather clock, pendulum won't swing. when i swing the pendulum, i hear an even tic-toc, then it stops. the weights are up, the hands aren't touching, the clock hasn't been moved or bumped, there's no tipping to the right or left. what next? thanks.

The minute nut is preventing the hands to fall. You can find it in front of the minute hand. Just give it a small turn like 65 degrees so that it wont touch the hand or it wont fall.

david, thank you for your reply. i don't know what you're referring to as the "nut counter" or the "minute nut". there's a nut at the bottom tip of the pendulum. that is turned to the left or to the right to adjust the time if the clock is either too fast or slow. any further help is much appreciated.

The problem is, the minute nut is tighten. I also had this problem. But I simply turned the nut counter-clockwise and swing the pendulum again. Turn the minute nut in the hands counter-clockwise slowly. Make sure it is still in place and not easily fall down. It will work for sure!
