hi nancy,had the same problem on a p reg corsa which also kept making the car cut out when stopping,found out the speedo cable is linked to the computer which caused the car to cut out,i replaced the speedo cable which is not a big job (if you no what your doing)and cost a tenner and problem solved,also my mate had a v reg corsa and his speedo stopped working i found this to be a fuse which i replaced and speedo spot on,so before you do anything check your fuses first as this could be your problem,hope this helps you sort your problem.
