How can I fix my non responsive diagnostic socket on my Citroen Xantia HDI?

I have a Citroen Xantia HDI. When we plug into the diagnostic socket there is no response. How do we ckeck which wires are loose or can we run it straight off the ECU?

Hi, depending on the year it probably will not work with any generic code reader and will only work with genuine Citroen units, as oil burners only have to be EOBD compliant in Europe post 2005 & petrol from 2001 and even after these dates, Citroen, Renault & Peugeot still used for a time their interpretation of the standard EOBD language.

The 16 pin socket is no proof that it will read wth the generic readers looking at the wiring diagram the 12v power pin is'nt even connected!!
