This has happened to my punto and I was told it is the engine cooling system, means the switch has gone, this will cost about £60.00 I was told to change. Hope this helps

engine management light.this means the (ecu) engine control unit has detected a fault with one or more of the cars sensors.garages can plug into unit and read its fault codes,can work out expensive.
