derestricting?

If i have derestricted my exhaust pipe but not taken the washer out of the variator will it still increase my speed on my speedfight 2?

oli the speedfight has a plate right on the back of the variator notl ike other scooters this is the one you need to take off and it will give the bike more top end speed.
