washing programme problem on a Zanussi JetSystem Excel 1425?

washing programme problem on a Zanussi JetSystem Excel 1425. you set the dial to the letter of the wash programme you want. on the machine, it will fill with water but not run the cycle. though it will run short/long spin or drain or any non wash cycle. any idea how to cure this?

it is diagnosing an issue and would require testing with a multimeter to see what is wrong.common issues are heater faults,pressure switch and worn motor brushes
