Renault Megane 1998 Immobiliser problem?

HELP......... It seems we are suffering with the same problem as alot of people, the remote key no longer deactivates the immobiliser, and in fact we cannot turn the immobiliser off or the central locking, so making the car totally unuseable, we have to make a journey soon so are desperate for the answer of how to get the vehicle on the road again, but like everyone else we are reluctant to give Renault our money if it can be sorted easily ourselves, CAN YOU HELP.... PLEASE!!!!!!

Its the key itself, just had the painful experience of £130 coded new key. My advice, buy a fob on e bay,fit your blade then go to the megane coupe owners club site, it tells you how to code the keys, dont know if it works yet as i aint been successful in bidding but the process of coding is so easy that i think it stinks what dealers charge.

UPDATE
I have had the immobiliser code from the dealer (cost me £20) great so i thought problem solved i can get the car home, went and put code in and it worked deactivated immobiliser Fantastic. But i couldnt beleive it when it activated the alarm. I got in touch with dealer and asked if there was a way to dis-arm the alarm and guess what No there isnt, the only thing to do is have the car towed to the dealer and have the key reprogrammed which will cost £37 + vat. I was told that i could take the key in and they might be able to fix it because somtimes if the battery is changed some part comes loose. So there is no point wasting money getting the immobiliser code because the car can-not be driven with the alarm constantly on. So my car is still stuck in a car park untill either the key is fixed or i get it towed to dealer and have it sorted. What a money making con by renault.

Hi i have got the same problem with my remote. (Car stuck in a car park.) I have found out that i need to get the 4 digit pin immobiliser code from a renault dealer. You need to give them the 17 digit chassi number. This is how to do it. Switch ignition on and the red led should be flashing fast, now say your code is 1234 while the ignition is on, you need to press the central locking button and count 1 flash of the red led, then let go of the button, then press the button again, and count 2 flashes of the red led, then let go of the button, and so on till all four digitd have been entred, when you have entred all the digits, if the code is correct the red light will stay on, if the code is incorrect or you have done it wrong the red led will flash, once the code has been entred and is correct and the led has stayed on, turn the ignition off then press and dold the central locking button untill the central locking makes a noise by locking and unlocking the doors, then point your pulp key at the receiver in the roof and press the key 3 times if all goes well the key will have been reprogrammed, if not just put the key in the ignition and the engine should start, if the remote is not working every time you want to start the car you will have to entre the immobiliser code each time to dis arm the immobiliser. If that fails you will have to take the car to a dealer for them to reprogramme it for you they normally charge about £30. hope this helps.
