How to fix the self propelled drive in my sovereign lawn mower it is not wo?

The self propelled drive does not work I have to push it I dont know what happened it just stopped half way around lawn. What could be possible cause is the drive unit a sealed unit or is there a drive belt that could have snapped. All info would be appreciated

Brilliant! Just looking at replacing ours when we came across this and sure enough it worked!

Thank you for your help I did as you said and I found that the drive belt was off I refitted it and everything is working great. Thanks again

Most of these mowers are rear wheel drive, there is a belt from the crankshaft to a pulley on the top of the gear box, the gearbox itself is non servicable. The cable pulls an arm on top of the gearbox to engage the drive, there is a spring that pulls the gearbox back to keep tention on the belt, this may have come adrift.
