my nokia 6500 slide will not accept memory card?

I have tried inserting a memory card into my phone but it will not recognize, even though it is a compatible card. It gives messages like "memory card not inserted" or "unformatted", can anyone solve this problem?

Had a similar problem, the battery cover got distorted and lost its earth contact to the rest of the phone, so the memory card refused to work. Needed a bit of cleaning and tweaking to remake the circuit, fine after that.
What a stupid design

there is an design flaw with this model of phone regarding the memory card. between the memory card and camera lens you will find a small rectangular gap. insert metal/tin foil into this gap so that the bottom connects with the fone's back. i know this sounds silly but its something to do with how the fone is grounded or something. insert your memory card and it should find it okay. you will note that on the back of the back cover, there is a sticky out bit of metal, this is suppose to connect the cover to the fone electrically but sometimes it comes loose i guess.

Check all the gold pins are ok on the memory card slot, also make sure the metal slide clip holds it tightly in place as they can sometimes be a fraction out & it wont read it.

If you get a format message it usually means the card is too big (65oos only takes up to 4GB) or you may need to format it with your PC then try again.
