It sounds like the small plastic bearing strips on the front of the drum need replacing.

the dryer does not start when i turn the timer, it hums for a few seconds then stops, could this be the motor start capacitor

Hi, sounds not to good. Have the same problem. The Drum is displaced and is rubbing at the back. Searching my self for a solution to fix it.
