After investigating the power control board of my faulty eTiger treadmill, I discovered that nothing had blown, all the high current components were OK, but the thyristor labelled Q2 (S6025L) was not being switched on, so no current was getting to the motor and since it was not moving when it should be, the switch RY1 disconnected the power after a few seconds and error code E1 is displayed. The signal to Q2 comes via a triac driver U1 (TLP561G) which should connect pins 4 and 6 to start up Q2. But again no signal arrives on pins 1 & 2. So I tried shorting pins 4 & 6 to force U1 on and everything works. I guess that the poor design of eTiger electronics has not allowed for component drift and the protection mechanisms are defaulting to off as the aging process progresses.
Of couse these suggestions may be totally wrong and could be dangerous so please take all possible precautions. The alternative is to dump the whole useless mess. "Caveat emptor"
