Hi, I have a fiat ducato 2.8 t/diesel motorhome.
The problem is, on start up from cold i get a rattle
from the front of the engine, which gets louder on
acceleration, once warmed up it disappears.
Its serviced annually.A new cam belt/tensioners
were fitted last year.[29,000] miles on the clock.
Doe's anyone have any ideas.Many thanks.

Hi, I have a ducato 1.9TD which does the same thing - gets quite noisey when accelerating - think it may be something to do with the turbo unit. i intend to get mine checked out

Hi again steve, just to let you no the outcome
of my vans problem. ive got to say alls well now.
it was not the power steering pump as was suspected.
it was as you had thought, the cam belt tension roller
had backed off,this was done foc by the dealer.

Hi Steve, Many thanks for your reply,
the cam belt etc,was fitted at a main dealer so i
suspect that that should be ok?
also the servicing was done by them.
It has now been diagnosed as a power steering pump fault, as it makes the same noise on both full locks.
Watch this space.
I did'nt know about the 5th gear mod but will investigate. once again many thanks, i'll be in touch.

has the cambelt been replaced correctly? if so does the orange glow plug light flash at all? if so it will require set of glow plugs as these assist in cold start? only other thing i can think of is exhaust front mount broken. also for a tip look on motorhome website.

did you know there is a modified 5th gear avalible to increase mpg and best motorway cruising!
