1999 Mondeo alarm going wild after battery re-connection?

Hi all,

A day or so ago I made the rookie mistake of leaving my lights on, thus completely flattening my battery. I have since recharged it and upon reconnecting it, the alarm goes off for what seems like an age, along with the hazard lights flashing. After a while the alarm stops but the hazards continue flashing.

I'm unsure as to whether this is normal or whether I have done something incorrectly to instigate a fault?

Either way, can anyone recommend what I can do to stop it?

Many thanks in advance,

H

Fortunately I have now solved the above issue.

Having searched a whole host of forums yesterday I found the embarrassingly simple solution. It turns out that because the car was locked and alarmed when the battery died, it remained in this state. Therefore, as soon as I reconnected the battery, it saw that the doors and bonnet were up and set of the alarm.

All I needed to do to overcome this was simply walk round and turn key in the driver's side door and, hey presto, jobs a good 'un.

I hope this may help someone else in the future,

H
