How can I fix the latch on the boot of my Vauxhall Corsa?

The latch on the hatchback of my Vauxhall Corsa is not working properly in that when I close the boot, the door bounces off against the rear of the car and the latch doesn't lock to keep the door closed.

I had this problem before but it started working after trying to close it a few times.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

I know it will need replacing in the long run but I just want to be able to get home from work tonight!

I don't know the model of corsa you have, but here are some suggestions.
1. Look at the latch, is there a worn off sheath of plastic on it. Quick fix is to wind insulating tape around the keeper.
2. With the boot open, push in the clasp of the latch and see if it locks into place. This will tell you if the mechanism is damaged. Remember to push the button before trying to close the boot again.
3. Look at the keeper in the frame it might be slack or have moved.
