Ive had that problem twice with my 2001 1.2 fiat punto, had the spark plugs cleaned or renewed and new hd (?) leads and it fixed the problem, as it kept coming off the cylinders.

Have you had any work done on the car since the problem started?
May be one of the following
Engine timing
Incorrect fuel
Air leak on inlet or exhaust manifold
Unlikely but might be spark plugs if incorrect plugs fitted ie temperature range too high/plug too hard
