tension is way tight, stitches pull to the top [brother ce-5000prw]?

Instead of my stitches meeting in the middle of the fabric like it should it is being pulled to the top and is very tight. I tried turning the dial both to a 3 and then to 5 and nothing different seemed to be happening. also, the needle is not sewing in a straight line and the stitches seem to be all over the place... What do I do?

Hello Tiffany,
You need to slacken the screw on the bobbin case anti clockwise about a quarter of a turn at a time until you can just pull the thread through with slight resistence, top tension between 3 and 5 should be okay.
