front left hubcap really hot?

On returning after a half an hour drive, I noticed that there was a really strong smell of hot rubber, and felt all the tyres, etc, to try to identify the culprit.
Everything was fine, except for the front left hubcap which was hot to touch.
Can you help me with my problem, is it a brake related issue?, is it safe to drive my car?, etc..
My car is a ford fiesta 1.125ztech, 1999 model, It has regular m.o.ts with only a few issues to rectify,
Thanks for any input.

Sounds as if you have a sticking brake caliper which will be keeping your brake on on that wheel. Besides using more fuel it will wear out the brake pads and disc quickly.
It may just need freeing off, at worst you may need a new caliper.
