my Peugeot 206 diesel keeps overheating ?

well one thing that is often looked is the pressure cap on the expansion bottle. when the car reaches operating temperature the cooling system creates its own pressure of about 1 bar. Because 99 percent of car rely on convection currents within the system as well as rediation and conduction. If the pressure cap seal is broken it may not create its pressure and cause overheating i had the same problem after replacing everything else.

Faulty radiator. I had a similar experience with a fiesta, the new rad had no baffles in it!!

yes i've bled the system and refilled coolant as recommended with a bottle on top of header tank and checked thermastat in boiling water the engine does not overheat when idling but goes up to red when driving normally so i pull over and let the engine idle and then the gauge drops very quickly back to around 90 degrees
