How to reprogram my laptop?

I have a Toshiba laptop and can not do anything on it . It seems that the filesystem has corupted. It appears to have Windows 98 but also say to exit back to Windows 95. Type enter at command prompt. I will get a black screen and it will do the same thing over again. If the problem is simple please let me know

You could try booting from a floppy disk go to www.bootdisk.com and create a 95 start up disk.
boot from that disk without cd rom support at command prompt A: type fdisk /mbr this will create e new Master Boot record
If this doesn't work repost and I will give further info

The exit back to W95 is because it was upgraded to W98 at some time in its life - ignore that for the time being. It sounds like it is not getting far in the boot sequence. Tell us what is on the screen after a reboot but before you start keying anything.

Post back with the system specs. (model #, ram, cpu, etc) and if you have any system cd's with it (restore software, etc.) and if you have to recover any files before restoring.
