my son ahs a speedfight 2 and when you start it it pours with smoke until warm its like a smoke screen but when warm is ok leave it over night and its back again

starts up then it just smokes even when warmed up what could cause this please changed exhaust and oil pump reeds and gaskets ? im stuck help

the early engines are driven off a cam wheel which rotates off the crank itself ,and the later versions are electronic,so unless the crank is rotating the oil pump should not move but as adam says i have come across a couple which have seeped in oil causing a little bit more smoking than normal but dont be too worried as long as the pump is still working get it checked on the next service

as m says they are supposed to smoke to an extent as this is the nature of the 2 stroke engine but i have had a problem several times in the past with the oil pump allowing oil to flow through it without the bike running and therefore filling the crankcase with an excess of oil that it burns off when you first start it up after being left,i would suggest clamping the oil hose from the oil tank to the oil pump at night after using it and then in the moring undoing the clamp and see i it still smokes alot if it doesnt then the pump is the problem and you should change it if it still smokes alot then you will have to put up with it as im out of ideas :)its usually yamaha and yamaha engine derved cinese bikes like motoroma that have this oil pump problem.ps MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE THE CLAMP IN THE MORNING !!! or you will have more than a smoky bike :)youll have a seized up one.
