Hello There, I had the same problem, but following your advice was able to unlock it. It seems to have to be pressed for a long time for it to work? It then seems to be temperamental and does not switch on, and then self locks??

It is quite easy. When you turn on the hobs main power, press the the rear left hand element pad at the same time and the lock will come off.
