how do you check vw sharan 06 automatic gearbox oil

Hi. If your transmission is acting funny I think the best option is to change the fluid, as the procedure for checking fluid level is quite complex, and simply adding a pint of fresh oil probably won't change much. Just drain out the old and put in 3.5 litres of new fluid. It should comply with VW spec G 052 990 ( Valvoline MaxLife Multi-vehicle claims to do so)

If there are no leaks then ATF level should be fine. Low level will give poor take up, worse cold. Very low, no drive or reverse. If you really, really want to check it then under the gear box is a 5mm allen plug. This is a spill tube inside the box. Check idling warm level ground.
