car started yesterday but would not go it needs oil in gearbox how do i refill it tomake it work

The engine coolant may be the lifetime red/pink type. The power steering may also be the component leaking. Auto fluid is more likely to be brownish and on later 5 speeds almost clear. If the cooler has failed fluids can mix this will make red fluid pink and opaque. I strongly advise you to not drive it until someone who knows what he/she is looking at can identify the leak.

Hi Karen,
The red/pink fluid is A.T.F. Auto Transmission Fluid.
It's purpose is to lubricate the gearbox, if only a small amount has leaked out you're probably ok to drive to your local garage and have it repaired. If all the A.T.F. Leaks out and you drive the vehicle , the gearbox will be seriously damaged.
Regards, David.

That is transmission fluid, drive it only as far as the garage and get it fixed or you will soon loose all drive and may damage the gearbox, sorry for the bad news, good news is that it is probably only a seal gone but the gearbox will have to come out.
