solved overheating problem!! checked thermostat, flushed radiator...but still overheating/ overpressure with pissing out of expansion tank pipe like hose.
The answer was faulty rad cap.Blow into middle of cap...if air escape,no good.Got new 1 for £6 from dealer(surprised at cheapness!). Put it on and FIXED.Everything sorted,no pressure problem,no overheating.
There u go £6 rad cap,£6 rad flush a few bolt removals to check thermostat and all done.I did get new th/stat at £21 and am keeping it as spare. The th/stat with plastic housing £14 more expensive than the other 1 at £8 !!
I did wonder if i had booked in garage ,whether they would have fictioned labour, head gasket,th/stat,new rad,VAT and the like when in reality 5 min cap replacement.
In conclusion a quick th/stat check with rad flush service and refill, with new cap and it runs as new!
I kept the new th/stat as spare as i had been to autofactors twice before i got the right 1(my error!) and didn't have the bother to say i dont need it after all, lol, coz they offered a good friendly service.
(Don and the team at Southsea Auto Factors...keep up the good work!!)
