where is thermal fuse located?

my maytag performer 3300 dryer, has quit AGAIN..won't start but if i open the door the heater is red...is the thermal overloaded or motor tripped out and where do i locate the fuse ...i have no drawings...thanks....lisa blackmon

Hello,

You can use a putty knife to push in on the spring clipson each side of the space between the front and top panel. That will raise the top panel and from there you can access the thermal fuse or heating element. Your element should not be on if the dryer motor is not running, you may have a shorted out element.
