There are typically three tamper circuits that could cause this.
1. Global tamper circuit
This goes round all the detectors and contacts. Has a detector cover been removed or damaged? Is there a damaged wire to any of the detectors?
2. Panel cover tamper
This is unlikely to be at fault unless the cover has been removed.
3. Bell box tamper
If the bellbox is old, then this is quite likely a cause - if none of the other suggestions are the cause. Alternatively, it's possible that the wire to the bellbox is damaged.
Have you had any new carpets fitted. If so, check if they have cut a wire.
Finally, if the alarm keeps triggering, just shut it up by entering your code and NOT pressing reset. The strobe light might carry on flashing, but the alarm won't trigger again!
