Squealing Noise when Accelerating (Ford Fiesta)?

When I accelerate in my Ford Fiesta there is a squealing noise, which stops when I take my foot off the accelerator or when the car reaches the required speed. I suspect it is a clutch problem but when i have had clutch problems before it is usually accompanied by an acrid smell like burning rubber. There is no such smell with this problem. Could it be something else ?

We have the same problem, did you find out what it was?

sounds like the fan belt.when they are worn they squeel at low speed or when car is cold.

check the alternator and water pump drive belts, if you have an air conditioner installed, more than likely would be untensioned belts.
