are you sure its not a yamaha virago xv535 ?if so then you should not need to adjust the carbs from the standard settings the air filter being dirty will cause it to run rich and not get the right amount of air ,you can adjust the mixture screws but its not advisable unless someone has already fiddled with them if so they should be wound all the way in then turned out 2 turns each there is one one screw on each carb the only other thing to adjust is the height of the circlip on needle ithe piston slides in the carbs but they should be set on the middle notch of the needle if all stock parts i.e exhaust and air filter are fitted.ok hope that helps you priscilla ,adam in england
