i have a y reg 1.6 zetec focus when you come to a stop say from 50mph when you stop the engine is reving between 2000rpm-3000rpm it does go down if you sit for 30 secs tho, can any one help thankyou
Ford focus 1,6 2001. when I start the engin the idle speed goes up to 5000 rpm, it happens when I tryied to control compression in cyl. 4. I changed idle speed control with no result.

Had exactly the same problem on a Focus 1.6 Zetec.
It was a split hose.
Look under the intake manifold. The four pipes at the front of the engine.
There are three hoses (about 15mm diameter that join together under there.
They are difficult to get at but can be changed in place with the help of long nose pliers and a screwdriver.
It was the longer hose on the left that was my problem and with the engine idling if you pushed it you could hear the engine revs change.
When removed it was split underneath.
