XRS-24S SHREDDER SENSOR WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO?

I have had problems trying to shred pieces of paper .The sensor does not seem to pick up the insertion of the paper unless there is 3-4 pieces and you push hard into it while in the auto position.Is there a way to clean the sensor??

lift off the top of the shredder and flip it upside down. in the middle there is a little sensor window that paper dust builds up and you can just clean with alcohol and let dry
