why is my central locking playing up?

when i lock my mondeo the central locking works fine but when i open it with the key the alarm goes off and it takes ages for it to stop and unlock the door this is driving me mad please help regards dave

give me year of car if you dont have handbook (pull fuse for central locking for couple minutes then put back in to reset )
