You did not state the age of your fridge but if it is 10 or more years old it will probably need a replacement cooling unit. If it won't get cold when using the AC power then it won't work any better on LP gas. Listen for a "gurgling" sound when the fridge is running. If you hear that, you need a new cooling unit.
