fitted new battery to veritas 8 tamper won't go off and can't set alarm?

fitted new battery to our veritas 8 alarm and now the tamper light won't go off and when we try to set the alarm it beeps like it's going to set but doesn't, just keeps bleeping until we type in alarm code. can anyone help please?
