Sounds like the system needs re-gassing. Due to the chemicals used to do this you need to be a lisenced fitter. Most garages can do this for you for about £60. The fact it has stopped blowing cold is not a defect with the air-con it's just that the gas (Freon I think) in all air-con systems runs out evetually.
