automatic gearbox/ford galixy?

hi , my ford galixy is an automatic. the revs started to hit the red and it started to struggle through the gears. i stopped immediatley thinking the worst . i,ve recentley purchased this car and hoping the gearbox has,nt gone .what could you suggest
