Kill switch wire broken?

I have Huskee 42inch riding mower. The wire from the coil to the ignition switch that turns the motor was broken so it wouldnt start. I unhooked it and it starts but it wont shut off except to turn the throttle completely down and let it die. I spliced the broken wire but it doesnt start if the wire is connected. Can this wire be spliced or does it need replaced. Thanks. John C.

The wire from the coil is an earth cutout wire, under NO cicumstances should you put 12volts power down this wire or you will melt the coil, just take this wire to a simple toggle switch, earthing the wire out will stop the engine.
