zanussi zx57/3 thermostat?

The thermostat on my Zanussi ZX57/3 has stopped working. Have almost completely removed the unit, but the sensor, which goes does a small verticle hole in the top right hand corner of the fridge, will not withdraw - it moves a tiny amount, then seems to catch on something.
Should it just pull out (or wiggle it) or is there something else that I should do?
Thanks

The screws for mounting are under some round blanking caps.prise them off to get to screws

in the back of the fridge is a plastic housing with a MAX/MIN slider on it.this needs removing as the thermostat phile clips on to it at the back.you will then be able to pull it out with ease and fit a new one
