soft brakes on my tractor. how do you tighten them up?

i have a ford tractor deisel and it has been setting up for the past 2 years. how can i clean them so that they work again

You dont say if you have the wet or dry type....if dry make sure all the parts can move freely give the drums and shoes a good clean readjster and work the tractor.
there's not much you can do with the wet type apart from renew them.
