i have a ford fiesta 1.25zetec 2001 reg 3door white clock dials and on my dashboard i have a light that lookks like a gearbox signal that stays on for long times is it a major problem or not ?

take to a garage and get a fault code off their reader then put code on here and we will be able to help you but before you do disconnect battery for couple hours to discharge circuits then reconnect and try
