the scooter has gas spark and all that, idles fines and revs with no missing while on the kickstand, when i get on it to go and try to accelerate, it dies. if on a hill it will run but when stop for a sign or traffic, it wants to "go" and will die again. is it the clutch and if so how do u test the clutch

to me that sounds like its running weak,does it pick back up once it has died if you close the throttle again?check the ir filter is ok and on the carb properly and also that the still air pipe from atmosphere to the air filter is on properly and not perished or broken,also the carb may have water in it or have a blocked jet.let us know the answer to the question i asked you.

quite possibly, just for interest check your ht lead isnt broken or coming off at the coil
