ford mondeo auto gear box problem?

i have a 2.0 ltr 2000 mondeo auto wen driving it jumps up and down threw the gears it hard to keep it in gear

This may be caused by the transmission range position switch. The part is only about 35 pounds and fits on the top of the gearbox. When faulty can give the computer inputs for different gear selection.
