my rv 150 will not stay running is this a carb problem when you spray carb cleaner direct at the carb it will idle

I am sorry that is totally wrong. Yes they may be cheap engines but they are not impossible to fix and they don’t break down every week. I have ordered many spares such as head gaskets, recoils, Magnetos, air vain etc some may have taken a while but that’s because mountfield were still working out what were the problem parts. The smaller engines are copies of the briggs engine anyhow and the larger one is a copy of the Honda engine previously fitted to mountfields. And all mountfield agents have diagrams for the engines if they say they don’t they are not an official dealer, I know this because up until recently I used to work in a shop that was a mountfield agent.

Pleasent is correct regarding spares - unless of course you have taken apart a dozen or so engines. I can supply any part EXCEPT a crankshaft. I can supply modified Tecumseh ignition coils that wll fit, and will last forever.

No (official) parts lists are available.

The redesigned starter assy and fuel tanks are much better than earlier versions, and don't break or leak BUT they cost £32 + P&P. That and new air filters and head gaskets are about the only parts available.

can u please tell what kind of oil to put in mower thanks

1. There aren't any diagrams available
2. The engine is of Chinese origin
3. The engine is not designed to be repaired
4. The engine costs £9.00 to make & Mountfield pay £12.00 for them
5. Whatever has gone wrong it is terminal as it's not designed to be repaired there are few if any spares available
6. If you can fix this problem, then sure as eggs is eggs you will have another one next week.
7. Bin it and buy something with a reputable, serviceable, reliable and repairable engine fitted such as Briggs & Stratton or Honda.
