I turned on my HP Presario V3000 notebook and it did not complete the start up. After a few seconds it made 4 very high pitched beeps and froze. There is a flashing cursor in the top left hand corner of a black screen. It will not respond to anything and I cannot turn it off. I have tried holding down the power switch and also control+alt+delete but it still will not close down. It was getting extremely hot despite the fan. I have now removed the battery pack. Will I be able to turn it on again and will I have lost all my files?
