have put it on fast wash but not working seems that the water is not getting into the dishwasher

Make/model???
Has the waste hose been connected under the sink?.if it has has the blanking cap been removed so it can drain?
Has the water tap been switched on?.Don't assume because the top moved that the valve underneath has.
Did you kink inlet hose when pushing it back in to position?
