i have a mountfield 42PD petrol lawnmower . ?

my lawnmower worked fine last season. i've cut the lawn once this year and it's now leaking oil out of the air filter, i've since changed spark plug and oil it's struggling to tickover and back fires. help please

Oil in the air filter comes from the engine breather tube, this mower has either been tipped up, or the engine bore is worn, always tip the mower sump down if you must tip it

make sure that the oil filter is back on thight and the seal is on it , try changing the petrol for fresh petrol, check that the sparks plug , is the right one for that mower power wise. and your useing the choke the right way if it has one? just use it for starting up , , and knock it off , (all the way) when its running ,
