Indicator Stalk/Winder Wiper Stalk?

My 52 Plate 206 has STUPID automatic sensor for the lights. I will indicate and it will stop indicating (stalk still down) and then my lights come on i will tap the stalk and my lights go off and it indicates again (very dodgey as ppl think im flashing them to pull out!!!) How ever this does not happen when i turn my lights on manually! Also when my lights are on manually and the engine is off and i open my door there is no buzzer to say my lights are on should there be (as this results in my flattening my battery... :-/) ? I have been adivised to buy a new stalk should this resolve this as they are about £200.00 i want ot be sure!?!? HELP PLEASE!

It might be one of those odd features which date back to the 60's where cars would leave their lights on for 30 secs so you can find your house at night if you left the lights in a particular setting or left the stalk down. I would not buy another stalk as they probably all do it. At JUnctions, when it stops indicating, just cancel and re indicate. A main dealer might help you or if you have the original handbook these features are often explained in laborious detail so it should tell you whether it is actually faulty or not.
