Baxi Solo Wall Hung Boiler?

The pilot light on my boiler keeps going out. After a few attempts it will light and stay lit. It seems to do it more on very windy days, the flue exhausts outside into a passageway, when it is windy, the wind really whistles through at speed. I am wondering if the wind is blowing back up the flue and blowing out the pilot? If so, I was considering making up a deflector plate next to the flue outlet outside to divert the full force of the wind away from the flue outlet. Does this sound reasonable logic, and also, is it safe to divert the wind round the flue a bit?

no, dont build anything around the flue. if the pilot is going out a lot, its probably the thermocouple on its way out
