What is the sound my gas stove makes?

My gas burners work fine, but my gas oven will (80 percent of the time) make a very loud POOF noise and then a loud whooshing sound (like air) comes and doesn't stop until I turn it off...and I immediately turn off the oven when this happens. My gas guy had no ideas except that it was not normal (and probably not good). Any ideas? And any ideas whose end the problem is on...gas or stove? It's a Kenmore.

the flame is being baffled back to the injector either because of a dirty or blocked burner or aeration slot on the burner is blocked this is a very easy problem to diagnose and correct (a good clean of the burner and injector) i am surprised your gas guy isn't familiar with this problem
